During the consultation, we assess your horse both standing still and in motion. We also create a 3D scan of your horse’s back using the HORSESHAPE app and its accompanying platform. This scan provides an objective, digital representation of the shape of your horse’s back at the time of measurement. The HORSESHAPE 3D scans allow us to document changes in your horse’s back over time and compare different measurements taken at different stages of its development.

Whether you are looking for a new or pre-owned saddle, the right fit always starts with the horse. That is why, by appointment, we are happy to visit you at your stable or another suitable location.

The foundation: your horse

Whether you are looking for a new or pre-owned western saddle, our process always begins with a careful assessment of your horse. During the consultation, we also create a 3D scan of your horse’s back using the HORSESHAPE app and its accompanying platform. This scan provides an objective, digital representation of the shape of your horse’s back at that moment. By documenting these scans over time, we can monitor the development of your horse’s back and compare measurements taken at different stages.

Finding the right saddle

A saddle should not only fit your horse correctly, but should also provide good balance and a comfortable, functional position for the rider. We therefore carefully assess the selected saddle on your horse and, whenever possible, also evaluate it while riding.

Trading in your western saddle

Do you already own a western saddle that is no longer the right choice due to changes in your horse’s development? At Euro-Horse, it is often possible to trade in your current saddle for another new or pre-owned western saddle. We are happy to discuss the possibilities with you.

A western saddle for your developing horse?

Do you have a young horse, or are you bringing your horse back into work after an injury or pregnancy? We are happy to help. Especially during these stages, a well-fitting saddle is essential, while purchasing a definitive saddle may not yet be the right choice. That is why we offer our Young Horse Plan and Rehabilitation Plan.

Both plans work as follows:

During the initial appointment, we discuss your requirements and assess your horse. Based on the measurements taken, we search for a suitable pre-owned saddle. If the horse is ready to be ridden, you will then ride in the selected saddle.

If your horse is not yet saddle-trained, it is essential that it is accustomed to being girthed, for example with a lunge girth.

Alongside the purchase of the first pre-owned saddle for your young or developing horse, you can choose our Young Horse Plan or Rehabilitation Plan. The cost is €367 in the Netherlands and Belgium and €397 in Germany.

The plan includes two additional visits by appointment, during which we check both your horse and the saddle. This allows us to keep the saddle appropriately fitted as your horse develops in height, width, weight and musculature.

If a saddle change is necessary during one of these follow-up appointments, we will trade in the original saddle, with an additional payment if applicable, for a saddle that fits your horse at that stage of its development.

The depreciation on the saddle purchased as part of either plan is €1.00 per day with normal use. Without a Euro-Horse plan, the standard depreciation is higher. In the event of exceptional damage, additional depreciation may apply.

Once your horse has reached the desired level of development and musculature, we have a clear understanding of the appropriate tree size. You can then trade in the most recently used saddle towards a definitive saddle, either new or pre-owned. In most cases, the period between the first saddle and the definitive saddle is approximately one year.

Your horse’s wellbeing is always our priority, which is why we strive for the highest standards of quality and innovation. When a standard saddle tree does not provide a sufficiently precise fit for your horse’s back, customisation offers the solution.

Using the Topograph PRO by EQUIscan, we accurately and objectively map the shape of your horse’s back. Based on these measurements, our saddle tree maker in the United States designs a custom saddle tree, which is then incorporated into a completely bespoke western saddle.

Our saddle fitting service is at the heart of our business. With EQUIscan, we can perform an independent and objective assessment, regardless of your riding discipline. This method provides detailed insight into aspects of the horse’s back that are difficult to assess using traditional fitting methods, including angles and widths. You will also receive a detailed evaluation of the required saddle fit in a clear and easy-to-understand digital report, including a digital 3D model.
