Ein Billy Allen-Mundstück gibt Pferden den Vorteil keinen Nussknacker-Effekt zu haben, weil es sich nicht über der Zunge faltet.
Das Bit hat ein 13 cm Sweet Iron Billy Allen Mundstück mit Kupfereinlagen und 7" Shanks.
Sweet iron will rust when it comes into contact with (air) humidity; the surface rust tastes sweet and naturally stimulates the saliva production. This will cause the horse to salivate more which in turn encourages better acceptance of the bit. The rusting process (oxidation) changes the colour of the bit to a brownish-grey.
A beginning of this oxidation process may already be visible when purchasing a new bit.
